1963

Shafer Insurance Agency is started with 3 employees.

1966

Bought Dameron Avenue property.

1967

Founder, Alex A. Shafer passed away.

1968

Moved into first building located at 719 Dameron Avenue.

1969

Sold Agency to Expedior Systems, Inc..

1971

Bo Shafer purchased agency back.

1974

Agency incorporated and increased to 9 employees.

1978

Bond Department begins operations.

1995

Alexander C. "Andy" Shafer joined agency making the 3rd generation of Shafer Insurance Agency.

2001

Moved to new building located at 1100 Marion St..

2002

Employee Benefits Department began operations.

2003

First acquisition of another agency.

2004

Expanded Personal Lines Department.

2005

Surety Department triples in size.

2007

Safety Services Department added.

2008

Acquired agency in Kingsport, Tennessee
